Yes, the Ladies of Star came through again with their 2nd annual Love Run to Wendover, NV. Being that this has been my second time exposed to this adventure I can tell you that you missed a very fun time. Some of us were a little early so we found a way to start passing the time in the parking lot (it’s 12:00 somewhere). When the bus arrived with Wendy at the wheel, she knew that this group was ready to roll.

When we boarded the bus we found the most interesting “Star Logo” that no one seemed to know anything about. It was framed in black, but I can’t go into any more detail than that due to the family nature of our group. (for an email copy contact Gary Marquette). On a brighter note the picture was auctioned off and the Star funds received $25.00.

During our bus ride there was some great entertainment by the Ladies of Star (with their rendition of the song Love Shack. Traveling up and down the aisle you could hear all kinds of stories of past rides and adventures (what happens on the bus, stays on the bus). I had no idea that this group was so “worldly” and knew how to dance (thank you Karen).

When we arrived, Wendover opened its arms and doors to us. We were all ahead $7.00 and a meal ticket. We soon found out that the $7.00 was Wendover’s money, not ours.

Moving through out the casino and dashing through the crowds scoping out the machines looking for the one that was going to pay out big. You could see and hear when a Star member hit it big (at the penny slots). Wow!

At 5:30 ish, we met for dinner. Yep they turned us loose on the all you can eat buffet. We had a great meal with good friends. (Our waitress was on her 2nd day on the job and she did a great job. She got several weeks worth of intense training dealing with our group). She said she would need a week off to recover though.

Loading up and leaving with this group was amazing. Put two buses in front of the casino ….well let me just say that we met a lot of “new friends” on the other (wrong) bus.

The trip home started the same as when we left, but soon I realized that most of our passengers had fallen asleep, or close to it. After 20 miles down the road the “sleepers” to the back of the bus and the talk moved to the front (more sleepers than talkers). And that is how we brought the bus home. Our bus driver Wendy said we were a fun group. She also said she had a great time and that she has a bike and just might show up on one our Star group rides.

Way to go Ladies of Star for a great trip and a fun time. Can’t wait to see what happens next year. See ya soon!
