Holly "Jolly" Caid Memorial Ride Wednesday, August 16, 2006, we lost Holly "Jolly" Caid. Holly was the LOS Representative for Chapter 279 and took her responsibility seriously. But she was much more than that. Holly was a very special person that "could light up a room just by entering it." She was a huge part of the success of this years Angel Ride - contributing not only her energy and time but her spirit of giving and caring as well. Holly always put forth 100% effort into the projects she accepted and helped ecourage others in their efforts. She was a significant presence not only within Chapter 279 but within Chapter 152 and all of Star Touring as well. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Holly loved to come home from work - put on her boots - and ride up Little Cottonwood Canyon. She did it nearly every day. God's Speed, Holly and enjoy the ride. |
The group (about 24 bikes) gathered and put white ribbons on their leathers to commemorate Holly. During the meeting, Marshall took a vote and it was decided that the Sunday Rides will start at 9AM from now on. Also, Dennis gave us an update about the Redwood Ride - we are to leave from the Flying J in Lake Point (I-80 at exit 99) at 8AM on Saturday 9/9. Dennis is leaving at that time "with or without you". Marshall said there will be a ride on 9/16 to Nebo Loop for those not on the Redwood Ride.
Colette McPhee mentioned that the StarKids will be having an afternoon of mini golf at Mulligan's on 10/7 starting at 2PM. Stay tuned for more information. We were also reminded that the UPS Brown Bike Rally is Saturday 8/26 at Full Throttle with registration starting at 9AM. Also Yout Impact is putting on the 1st Annual Helping Hands Ride on 9/10. More information at www.helpinghandsride.org.
The ride was pleasant to Morgan with only a little wind throught the canyons. At the park, several members - led by Fred - talked about Holly and how much she meant to all of us. Beanie offered a prayer and we all felt a special closeness remembering a lost friend. After some lunch, most of the group left for parts unknown.
